Kootenai is also the ideal jumping off point from which to explore Montana's many wonders. The nearby Bob Marshall Wilderness—known as The Bob—teems with over a million acres of preserved mountain and forest that offer blue-ribbon angling, hunting, hiking, cross-country skiing, camping and bird-watching. Whitefish and Blacktail Mountain are also close by and both are fantastic for skiing and snowboarding. Also, just 45 minutes from the Kootenai, is the soul-shaking grandeur of Glacier National Park.
